Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.

B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)

Professional Experience

Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at UFRJ from 1988 to 2006 and at United Arab Emirates University from 2006 to 2010 before joining Texas A&M University at Qatar, where he is currently an Adjunct Professor. Associate editor of the Brazilian Journal of Chemical Engineering.
He was a Fulbright Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of Delaware in 2006, has supervised over 50 graduate students, and developed XSEOS, an educational Excel-based package for Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics.

Research Interests
His research expertise includes the development of thermodynamic models, applications of thermodynamics to chemical process safety, energy integration, and educational software development.
